Welcome

- This is the complete guide to everything you need to know. What you can, and can not do, profile options and how to set them up, policies on various subjects, and more. Before we begin, make sure you check the detailed help section on using the SMF forum system. Most of your basic forum usage questions can be answered there. You can view it and search for your problems by clicking the Help tab

Let's start with the basics then

Profile Options

Signatures
  • Images must be between 150 pixels high, and 450 pixels wide
  • Images must be 60 kb or under
  • No multiple images which would add over these restrictions
Avatars
  • 100 pixels by 100 pixels max
  • Must be 60 kb or less
- For more information on Signatures and Avatars, CLICK HERE
- For help setting it up, you can CLICK HERE for more help.

Extra Profile Options
There are a few things somewhat unique to this forum regarding your profile that aren't in the help section.

- Turn off the word filter - With SMF you have the option to disable the bad word filter. Go to Profile-->Look, layout and preferences-->Leave words uncensored. Check the box yes or no to your preferences. The default is set to no, leaving the word filter on.

- Awards - You can collect profile awards based on things you do around the forum. They are displayed in your profile, and by clicking a users award icon in their postinfo. -->

Posting and Etiquite
- Here are some simple answers to frequently asked questions about posting in The Basement

What are the rules here? What's allowed?
- We encourage you to have a full read of the USER AGREEMENT for all your questions. In summary, we are relatively lenient here as far as censorship is concerned. As long as nobody is being offended, it's usually fair game. Play nice, and you should be fine.

What about my posts? Who owns that material?
- If you are concerned about copyrights on the material you post here, please read over our Copyright Statement for more information.

What about reviving old threads, bumping, and double posting?
- There is no age limit to threads here. As long as the conversation can still be added to and you have something relative to say in it, we encourage you to post.

Someone is breaking the rules, what can I do?
- If you see someone causing trouble, we urge you to report them. You can do this by clicking the report button

How do I request Graphics?
- All you have to do to get free graphics is make a thread in our requests section, HERE. You will deal with a member of our Graphics team that will work with you closely on the project

Can I download the Graphics and Art here?
- All images in the Graphics resources section is free for you to use for your personal websites or forums. They may not, at any time, be redistributed by you, or anyone else. All images on this sight are strictly the copyright of this forum, and it's respective users. If you at any time steal any of these images and claim them as your own work (ripping) you will be immediately banned from this website, permanently.

Who are the staff members here, and how do I become one?
- You can find a list of all of our staff members HERE. These users have been chosen based on their talents and contributions to the forum. We do not currently take applications for any staff position. Should a position become available, the community will be notified, and a user selected.

I have an idea or suggestion to make the forum better
- We encourage you to give us your feedback, ideas and opinions so that we can expand and evolve in a way that best suits you. If you have any comments or ideas, you are encouraged to post them in our FEEDBACK SECTION

How can I help to promote the forum?
- Feel free to use any resources posted in our PRMOTIONS PAGE
- If you are interested in affiliation, contact the staff, and we may work something out

What are Challenge points?
- Challenge points are prizes given in most competitions in our CHALLENGES AND COMPETITIONS SECTION. At the current time, these points are just for the spirit of competition, but you may be able to buy things with them in the future. You would be wise to start building them up now.
- There are several ongoing competitions here as well, make sure to check them all out.

What is this Hot Tub section I've heard about?
- The Hot Tub is a private board where mature users can discuss more "adult" topics. To gain access to this section, you must have the hot tub access usergroup added as a secondary permission group. If your interested in accessing the hot tub, please contact a staff member, so we can verify your age. It's not so much for your protection, but to respect the privacy of the people who post in there, who assume it's for mature audiences only.

Well that just about covers most of it. I'm sure there will be more to add, so watch for updates. If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact any staff member, and we will help you.
